I am an Associate Professor of Surgery and Population Health at NYU Langone Health, where I serve as Director of Policy and External Affairs for the Transplant Institute and Director of the Qualitative Core in the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research. I am an NIH-funded researcher and have previously received support from the Department of Defense and HRSA. I have published 140 articles in high-impact journals, and my work focuses on improving transplant system performance while advancing the safety and experiences of patients and donors.
I previously served on the U.S. Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Board, including as Vice President of Patient and Donor Affairs, and I currently co-chair the Alliance for Donation and Transplantation National Innovation Leadership Council. I also serve on the National Physical Activity Plan Media Committee and am the Social Media Editor for Transplantation journal, where I host a podcast series engaging patients, families, and professionals on advances in organ donation and transplantation.
My work has been featured on Fox, ABC, and CBS affiliates, NBC News, and in outlets such as the Washington Post. My research and policy initiatives have appeared on television across Indiana, Arizona, Texas, and Michigan, as well as in top medical journals including JAMA. I am frequently invited to speak nationally and internationally, delivering keynotes and plenaries that highlight my collaborative, community-focused approach to advancing transplant care. I am also earning a certificate in TV and Film Production at NYU, bringing complex medical and policy topics to broader audiences in engaging, accessible ways.
At NYU Langone Health, I am dedicated to advancing innovation in transplantation and improving the patient and donor experience. I lead initiatives that translate cutting-edge research into real-world practice, fostering collaborations across clinical, research, and policy teams. Through my work, I aim to position NYU Langone as a national leader in transplant care, education, and public engagement, while promoting transparency and excellence in organ donation and transplantation.
